As many of you know, Wednesday after work, Kyle and I drove down to Irvine to stay with my sister. We went to Disneyland on Thursday and Friday for our 5 year (dating) anniversary (our story)!!
We realized that we are now old and don’t like road trips (takes ~6 hours driving). We agreed, for next time, that we would look for cheap flights…
Here are some things that I learned/reaffirmed on this trip:
1. Pretzels, covered or stuffed with anything, will be delicious.ย Road trip food.
I have seen many of my blog friends rave about them, but I really only like peanut butter in PB&J or on Triscuits/Wheat Thins…until now.
2. It doesn’t matter how tired I am, I will always act like a kid on Christmas when I go to Disneyland after a brief hiatus.
Yep. We definitely went on Dumbo. The ride every parent hates after the 8463 first time they have to stand in line for 90 minutes for the 30 second ride.
3. There is a difference between the camera lens and the screen. Learn it. Memorize it.
4. Disneyland is not the place to look all cute and win “best dressed.” Wear your running/workout shoes (and clothes if you want) you big dummy.
Your favorite boots that you thought were super comfortable, they are not. At least not when you’re on your feet all day and walking many miles. Disneyland counts as cross training.
5. You will get excited every time you see the princess castle. No matter how many times you see it, and even though you saw the real thing (Neuschwanstein- what the princess castle was modeled after).
6. Food (and everything else) is really expensive at Disneyland. Continue to bring in your own food (and water), and splurge on the important items.
Like this cookie. Supposedly Cinderella’s slipper. Clearly paying for the experience and not accuracy here.
7. Get the special pins from City Hall. They are free. And they make you feel special.

8. You will love this guy. Always.

I’ll have more from our awesome anniversary later. Hope y’all enjoyed my “tips” ๐
Have you ever been to Disneyland/Disneyworld? What’s your favorite ride?
Favorite road trip food?
I’ve never been to Disneyland/world – it would be such a big trip for us. We try to vacation visiting my husband’s family in England every few years…maybe some year we’ll head to Disney with the girls! Looks like you had a great time!
Yeah that would be quite the trip! I would say wait until they’re a little older. I don’t remember any of my Disney trips from when I was under 5 years old. We had a blast ๐
Looks like y’all had a blast! I’ve been to Disneyland, but not world. I’m dying to go though. Oh and I love those pretzels! Haha
We certainly did! Lol I thought of you when we bought the pretzels! I was like, uh oh, I hope I like these!
Looks like a blasy
Correction. Blast!
Lol it was!!!
Road Trip Food=Jerky.
Lol Kyle would totally road trip you if you brought that ๐
Love the pictures! I’ve been to Disney World but not since I was in 5th grade so it’s been awhile ๐
Thank you ๐ I went to Disney World in 5th grade too haha!! We went with my grandparents on both sides!
ahhhh i love Disneyworld (never been to the land) regardless of how old i am (maybe because i’ll prob always be 12 inside — i call it “youthful” as opposed to, ya know, any less-pleasant adjectives to describe the perpetually young-at-heart). agree with you that they prob could hire some new pastry chefs to improve those slipper cookies. glad you guys had fun!
Haha we can be youthful together ๐ Thank you so much!
LOVE that you a ll spent your anniversary at Disneyland. You two are about the cutest things ever.
Gaww thanks twin!! It was so much fun ๐
Ahhhh what a fun trip! Looks like you guys really enjoyed yourselves. The cookie was a necessary purchase. I wore a pedometer to Disney one time and we hit over 19,000 steps, and that was a rainy day where we barely covered anything. Pretty sure you earned more than that one cookie ๐ Best road trip food = flaming hot Cheetos. Although PB stuffed pretzels will definitely make the cut for next time.
Hahaha OMG! Kyle looked for a pedometer before we left but couldn’t find his. I definitely should have eaten more than half a cookie (yes, I had to split it. the things we do for love…) OMG flaming hot Cheetos are the best! I’d need a bunch of water with me though. And then Kyle would curse your name because of the 6 bathroom stops we’d make ๐
Haha you and me both. I’m forbidden from drinking on road trips. Kyle owes you a do over with your OWN cookie. Take us next time! We’re fun, I promise ๐
Lol we can be the dehydrated prunes sitting in the back of the car with our OWN cookies. I would totally go to DL with you!
Awww you two are so dang cute. Great times! I’ve only been to Disneyland a couple times – That’s where my husband proposed to me. ๐ Apparently everyone else was expecting it to happen except for me. I didn’t get the memo.
My favorite ride growing up was probably the Star Wars ride. Now I can’t remember! Oh wait, Pirates of the Caribbean. Yeah, definitely that one.
WHAT?! OMG that’s adorable!! Where were you when he proposed? In front of the castle? Haha when I was little, my dad used to tell me he was steering the boat in Pirates. I would get mad at him when we went down that first drop.
He had originally planned to propose at the gondolas during fireworks or something but I guess they weren’t running. And the fireworks were canceled due to wind, so in the end he proposed in our hotel room. Not as romantic as one would imagine, but I was so overwhelmed with emotions that it probably didn’t matter where we were. lol
Lol! I think you’re right. I’ve never been proposed to, but I think that I wouldn’t care about where it took place. I’d be too happy ๐
we went to disney world this last summer and it was the best vacation I have ever been on. I def agree it’s a workout, I even wore my Brooks so my feet wouldn’t be so sore ha
Haha! I definitely should have wore my running shoes…
Yes, Yes, Yes, to dressing practically! I mean how who cares about shoes (rarely do I say that) when there are rides to run to!
I like your tip on the special buttons hehe
Lol I know…I should have taken a poll and asked what shoes to wear to Disneyland. Fairly certain I would have made the right decision if I had done that…
Haha thanks ๐ I JUST found out a few months ago that they are free!
What a fun looking trip! I’ve never been to Disney but it looks awesome! Those peanut butter filled pretzels would definitely have my heart ๐
Disneyland and the pretzels were awesome ๐
We did our last two anniversaries at Disney World. ๐ and we are visiting again soon!
I TOTALLY agree with you, it counts as cross training, especially if you’re like us and do the fastpass trot to try and ride as many things as possible. Phew.
AWW!!! Have fun ๐ Haha that’s what we do! As soon as the park opens, it’s the fast pass walk sprint (you get yelled at if you run haha) to the best ride. Then as soon as you get the tickets, it’s a dash over to the shortest line of another popular ride!
Cool, glad you had fun! I’ve been once, with my kids. I’ll have to go back because when we went I wasn’t able to ride the rollercoaster. My favorite thing was just the whole atmosphere, being in such a unique place.
Thank you ๐ Aww yes, you must go back eventually!! I definitely agree. A lot of what you’re paying for is the atmosphere. It really is on a whole different level than most theme parks.
I went to Disney Land once like 14 years ago! My sis lives in OC so my nieces go all the time.
Haha I stared at the cookie pic and was like what is this?? then I saw your comment. Haha that doesn’t look like a slipper.
Happy 5th anniversary!!
Oh and I have tried a similar pretzel snack but it was covered in chocolate. Same thing it was filled with pb but had milk chocolate on it. It is amazing and I can’t buy it often because I know I will eat the whole thing in a sitting ๐
Oh I hear ya! I will not be buying those pretzels again anytime soon. I would eat it all at once…
Oooo so jealous! My sis had the season pass for a year and I wanted to go so badly! Lol yeah, at least the “slipper” tasted good! Thanks so much!!
I have a friend that wore her garmin to Magic Kingdom – ended up walking like 10 miles!!!
Holy CRAP! I guess I’m not too surprised because that’s what it always feels like. K, now I’m definitely counting it as cross training.
